With roots in indie rock, pop, emo, folk and a Southern California vibe, LuisG delivers a powerful melodic style, charming story-telling, and relatable lyrics.  Based in Las Cruces, NM, where he lives with his wife, his 2 cats and dog, he has established a name for himself in online spaces and local circles, recording and producing from his own home studio. His music sounds like a combination of pop, emo, folk, indie rock with a Southern California beach vibe. He released his debut EP back in 2022 and in the following years he continued to create new music, reaching the pinnacle with his latest album "Second Chances", released on May 10th, 2024. He wrote it after a serious health crisis that made him re-evaluate many things about his life. As LuisG states "Second Chances is an album about reflecting and remembering the things that are important in life, and moving into a new chapter. Some of the very dark and difficult moments I’ve lived in the past year have been what formed this experience. Life is too short to take for granted, if I learned anything, it’s been that life is worth living for and that the world needs you. My hope is that it finds it’s audience, and if that’s you, I hope it helps you find peace with the wild ride that is this life"

The first thing that is noticeable while listening to the album is that LuisG undoubtedly knows how to talk about feelings and emotions in a gentle and delicate way. Each song is a story on its own, but they all are wonderfully interconnected by the pattern that is life itself. The open vocals create heartfelt, emotional melodies, accompanied by great songwriting and captivating instrumentals. The album starts with the title song "Second Chances", an uplifting song with clear vocals and an engaging guitar work. It's followed by a tune that inspires freedom and open spaces, "Fly Away", and the sweet romantic ballad  "California Dreaming...with you!". My favorite song of the album is "What I've learned (life goes on)", the vulnerable lyrics make me emotional every time I listen to it and I like the authentic and open vocals of Luis here. "Burgers & Fries (no one tells you how to make friends when you've grown up)", a catchy indie rock tune about friendship, and "Las Cruces, New Mexico" are truly enjoyable tunes, followed by another emotional and uplifting song: "There's a light (in the darkness)". "Sober" features the most wide open and honest lyrics in the whole album, and also a very engaging melody that brings the listeners to sing along with him. He wrote the deeply heartfelt "Dear Friend" as a tribute to his friend Kay Hernandez, who taught him how to play guitar. Then, "Summer Rain" closes the album with an acoustic version of "Second Chances". When I started listening to the album for the first time, I wasn't ready for the emotional rollercoaster that it would be, it definitely exceeded all my expectations and I can't wait to see what LuisG will be able to create in the future!

The album is highly inspired by an health crisis that LuisG experienced in early July, 2023. He felt something felt "a bit off" and his wife rushed him to the emergency room, where his blood pressure was sky rocketing, on the verge of a stroke according to a nurse that saw him. Later that day, he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and was admitted into the hospital, fighting for his life for the next few days. It was during this time that he began reflecting a lot of different things in life, choices he had made that lead him to this difficult moment, and a renewed sense of "living life" was born, along with the idea for his new album called "Second Chances".

"I had never been this close to death and the thought of getting a second opportunity inspired me to begin writing", LuisG said, "it was then that I wrote a letter to myself, apologizing for my actions and careless lifestyle I had been living, that became the album title song for Second Chances".

According to Luis, he had already been working on an idea for a 5 song EP to follow up "Somewhere to Call Home", which came out in 2022. He says he had been going through a bit of a writers block and suddenly after this incident, ideas kept flowing and coming. "It was a crazy thing, once I started writing, I could not stop, all of the sudden I had a full album written", he said, "this album has everything: rock, acoustic, ballads, songs about life and death, sobriety. It all started making sense, I knew this was the album I had to make".

Written, recorded and produced in his home studio in Las Cruces, New Mexico, LuisG brings to life his lifechanging experiences in every single song in the album. “There’s a light (in the darkness)” was co-produced with Connor Edwards, who Luis met on Threads.
