My Christmas Music

Christmas. Christmas has always had a wonderful and special meaning to me, especially during childhood and teen years. In particular, there is a thing that made, and still makes, December a special month for me: the Christmas Music. While in USA the holiday season starts after Thanksgiving, here in Italy it starts with the holiday of December 8th (L'Immacolata). Nowadays we are more influenced by globalization so you can see decorations, Black Fridays, and Christmas shopping even in November, but when I was a little girl (early 90s) it was like a ritual. On December 8th, we made the Christmas tree and decorated the whole house. AND it was the day since we started to listen to Chistmas Music on repeat until the end of the year!  When I was in elementary school, my mum had only one old Bing Crosby cassette tape. We used to put it in the music stereo and listen to it every day in the late afternoon, when it started to be dark outside and the lights of the decorations shined in the wh

"Tips & Tricks for guitarists" - A conversation with Scott Martin (Part 2)

Image
In Part 1 of my conversation with Scott Martin , a guitarist based in Brooklyn (NYC), we talked about the role that guitar has in his life. One of the things I suddenly noticed about him is his strong and very recognizable style on stage, based on dress style, personality and moves, melted with a professional knowledge of the instrument . I also noticed that his Instagram profile is full of little stuff about guitars so, out of curiousity, I asked him if he could share with us tips&tricks for fellow guitarists. It sounds like he has A LOT to say about this topic, so I managed to make a separate blog post! I had a great time reading his answers even tho I can't play guitar, and I'm sure guitarists will find precious little tricks here!!  Scott, which are 5 "must-to-have" for a guitarist (could be instruments or personal skills)? "I think that you could stand to have a few things as a solid part of your arsenal of gear, sure. I mean, as a pro, I have A LOT o

News: Meghan Pulles releases old-fashioned Christmas EP "Christmas Nostalgia"

Meghan Pulles has been writing songs since the age of 17. She is a classically trained opera singer turned singer-songwriter. She believes that music is medicine, and that by sharing her pain and struggles through song that she can empower others to do the same.   Meghan coined the term "emo-positive" for her music because she doesn't want to be put in a box but her vibes can be in the indie folk/pop realm. She wants her listeners to get healing from her music, and to know that they aren't alone in their own struggles. The New Yorker has touched fans across the globe with her music, taking her listeners on a cathartic journey of mental and emotional healing and wellness. Last spring Meghan released a beautiful hymn to hope during pandemic, " New Horizon ", and she is currently at work on her debut album about healing through emotional abuse, planning to be releasing in 2022 and working with producer Harper James who is known for his indie band Eighty Nine

"Is guitar a man's best friend?" - A conversation with Scott Martin (Part 1)

Image
Eddie Van Halen said "A guitar is a very personal extension of the person playing it. You have to be emotionally and spiritually connected to your intrument" and the guitarist Scott Martin understood the assignment well. He is a singer, songwriter and producer hailing from Brooklyn, NYC.  Scott Martin is the guitarist and one of the primary songwriters in Bulletproof Messenger - a successful modern electronic rock group with several millions plays and thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify, as well as national and international touring experience. He has also built up a successful career as a solo artist, with his music being characterized as commercial and melodic indie rock, demonstrably showcasing his love of classic songwriting and arrangement. When I first met him through Instagram, I remember thinking "Wow, guitars are almost a religion for this man!" - but without exaggerating too much, I really think that he brought love for guitars to another
