From arranging flowers to arranging music, 24-year-old Irish singer and florist Ciara Lawless, goes from working in her flower shop by day to arranging music by night where she writes and records her own music. After a successful start to 2024, the Celtic songbird who hails from Roscommon released her Debut Album "Paint My Soul" on Human Angel Records on 26th April.

"Paint My Soul" is a beautiful collection of 10 songs that will do exactly that, Paint Your Soul! Ciara is one of the strongest Irish emerging artist that is set for world domination with her powerful voice that has hints of Kate Bush and Florence and the machine. The 10 songs have catchy choruses and are delivered with a mature song-writing that will leave the listener singing along. Ciara delves into themes about reconnecting with your inner-child, healing and self-discovery.

Listening to her debut album, three things hit me: the maturity and complexity of Ciara's lyrics, with frequent use of spiritual-evocative words like angels, gods, divinity. Then, the combination of different styles, genres, instruments and rhythms with a perfect result, and finally, her ability to touch with kindness the most vulnerable emotions and thoughts, presenting it all with an ease and grace that will leave you stunned.

The album starts with "Divine Roar", an evocative anthem of liberation with its chorus "Standing in front of a mirror you know that there is more, you take all your rage and let a divine roar". Ciara's clear voice opens up here, freeing inner feelings of anger in a liberating roar. "Our Kingdom Come" conveys a totally different vibe, showing Ciara's ability to vocalize on a more pop/rock powerful rhythm about love and dreams - I love the lyrics "Be still my beating heart, please god don't let our dreams tear us apart". Then comes "No Rain, No Flowers", the pre-released single, an happy and uplifting pop song that will make you dance and sing along with her. "Answer" hits deep in the feelings again - with haunting piano and a vocal crescendo, it explores the doubts and confusion that come when you open your eyes and mature ("I've got all the right questions but not a clear answer"). "Paint My Soul" is the title single of the album, an energetic pop/rock anthem with powerful guitar and great vocals. The album goes on with "Where are your wings", a sweet calm ballad ("So you're the angel in my room, why you weep? I have enough secrets") and "With Love", a soul-infused rhythmic song that reminds me a lot of Sade music. I love the next song, "Human Angels", about kind, hopeful people that help those who suffer ("Take off your mask and be your true you, so many people down and crying, be an angel who walks walks beside them"). The album ends with "I Am Your Healer", a wonderful captivating love song, and "Waiting For A Sign", an introspective reflection of inner thoughts.

Ciara has been showing a steady rise on the Irish music scene. After a successful run on the festival circuit along with the release of her first 3 singles, Ciara has not only honed her stage presence but has also become known for her soulful voice, magnetic, charisma, and signature flower head crowns, catching the eyes of festival-goers.

Ciara's music journey began at a young age when she started taking classes in acting and singing. She later developed an interest in classical and opera, training at the Academy of Music in Tullamore, where she also competed in national and international competitions. While some singers cut their chops while climbing the music ladder, Ciara earned her singing stripes as a funeral singer, something that she is very proud and honoured to do so. With a tour on the horizon, Ciara is sure to make waves and is ready to take centre stage in 2024, solidifying her place as one of Ireland's most promising young musical talents.
