News: Brad Butcher & Brielle Brown duet in "Lay your head"
Brad Butcher is a Mackay born, central Queensland, singer-songwriter and musician. He has earned himself critical acclaim and recognition nationally as an independent artist and has crafted a career and unique style of songwriter that sets him apart from the norm of Australian country singer songwriters. Brad also has earned a reputation as a sort after and hard working individual ready to lend an hand to the next crop of emerging songwriter. At the core of it all, he is an uncomplicated Australian fella with a passion to create, connect and inspire. After eight years as independent artist, 4 studio albums, two time Golden Guitar Award winner for New Talent (2018) & Alt Country Album of the Year (2020), Q Music Award winner for Best Country Song (2018) and an APRA Professional Development Award Finalist (2013), Brad Butcher has signed a deal with Ambition Records as he steps into a
second phase of his career. "Storyteller: the journey so far", his latest album released in January 2022, sees Brad Butcher
reflect on the first decade of his career.
"Storyteller" includes a duet
with Brielle Brown, that I already had the opportunity to interview
on my Instagram account earlier in 2021, so let me introduce her: Brielle is an artist, writer, mother and mentor based in the greater NYC area, where she lives with her husband and young twin children. She spent the last decade in artist development, running indie label and entertainment company, Monocentric Music and serves on the Steering Committee for the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. She is the Creative Director for multiple recording artists and two of her mentees have landed runner up and finalist spots on NBC’s The Voice. A self-described eternal student of the human condition, her work continues to question why we’re here, why we love and what it truly means to be alive. Her debut album "The Well" has been described as "a picture of ethereal femininity", "a game changer for the singer/songwriter circuit" and "unapologetically unguarded and naturally trascendent".
In this article I'd like to present to you Brad & Brielle duet: "Lay your head". It is my favorite piece of the whole album "Storyteller": a sweet ballad where their voices exquisitely melt and dance together, in a melody that will give you goosebumps. It's certainly a song that hits the chords of the heart, to listen on repeat.
"The past 10 years have been a myriad of musical trial and error. in many cases one step forward and two steps back, but ultimately I have grown to be the artist I am today because of that journey. Musically the path has never really changed. I write in my own way, record the sounds and the style that I have always loved, and I have stayed true to who I am" says Brad. "Lay your head" with Brielle Brown is of importance to all involved, as it has taken a fresh set of wings upon updating and refreshing this song to fit all of our current family love and life situations.
"Lay your head"
We both had our share of sorrow
Broken down a time or two
Somehow better days would follow
Somehow I was meant for you
So lay your head
Lay your head
Lay your head on me
Lay your head
Lay your head
Lay your head on me
We’re all just drifting though darkness
Trying to find the light that cracks through
Somehow that spirit keeps rising
Somehow I was born to love you
Chorus
Be my voice without speaking
Be my road without ground
Just let your mind rest easy
And lay it on me, lay it on me
Lay it on me now
Chorus
