Morningside Lane (MSL) was established in Palisades Park, New Jersey in 2009 by Marc Del Giudice. (the name of the band derives indeed by the the name of a street in Marc's hometown). MSL has enjoyed domestic and international recognition with their innovative spin on the fresh, energetic "Jersey Sound". The early part of 2019 birthed the band’s new lineup of frontman and guitarist, Marc Del Giudice, bassist Frankie P, and drummer Brian Morelli. In September 2020 the band released their first full length album, "These Are Our Years" -  they share about it: "This album holds a special place in our hearts. It’s introduction to a journey". After feeling fatigued from the "Jersey Rock Sound" reviews, Marc wanted to step up the band in every way possible. During the shutdown in 2020 they found new influences. The band recruited keyboardist Dennis Matusche and Marc wanted more synth and pop in the bands sound. They kept rehearsing during the shutdown and the year and  then released "Temperamental" and "Good Men" in the second half of 2021, feeling that they finally had found their sound with these songs. The band is currently creating brand new music, geared towards a modern 80s pop/synth sound. As MSL embarks on their endeavors, fanatic fans of the renowned bands and artists: The 1975, The Killers, and Dua Lipa as well as other styles of pop/rock, will fall in love with the new-fangled music of Morningside Lane.

I met Morningside Lane earlier this year and I fell in love with their modern 80s style immediately. They are able to create one of the highest quality indie band sound I've ever heard, where Marc's excellent voice deserves a shout out on its own. Following him I had the pleasure to see how much passion and dedication he puts in finding the right sound and the right voice tone - a consistent hard work that characterizes all the other members of the band as well. Every song of their new EP is a jewel that involves emotions and powerful vibes at the same time, definitely a release to listen to in loop. This is just the coronation of the path they started a few years ago and I'm sure we'll hear many more excellent releases from them very soon.

About the album release, Marc Del Giudice says: "This is our second full length album. We recorded this album in Philly with our producer Liam Reyes. I was ready to move on and improve as a songwriter so I started focusing more on that artform. It steered me into a more indie/pop indie/rock direction. The songs are smoother. Sweeter and darker. A lot of influences took place. The 1975 being one of the biggest. I was listening to an absurd amount of disco. "Under the Diamonds" being the biggest example. I wanted more synth in our sound as well. The album is a split personality. It has very upbeat happy songs. But it also has very dark songs. So when you listen to it in sequence those dark songs make the happy songs feel uneasy. You still feel tension within the album. The album starts with "Temperamental" which is pretty much what the album is. We are ending the year with a big surprise. Our cover of "Hungry Eyes" from "Dirty Dancing". Stay tuned everybody!".

"Tragedies"

You only speak. When you complain.

And I lost count from all the pills that you take.

I can always tell. When you can never love yourself.

You're always a wreck. I really wish I could help.

Your life Is full of tragedies.

You blame it all on me.

When we sleep. You rather die. Tragically.

In a bloody scene. Then to die with me.

I tend to sleep. While you're awake.

Cause I fall apart.  When you look at me that way.

You spend your days numbing all the pain.

From your father's place it's so hard to erase.

All the time you spent hiding under your bed.

And it drives you closer to the edge.

I woke up. To the sound of breaking glass.

Then I found you there. In a blood red bath.
